Major US employers resume hiring as AI drives demand for human talent |
| After more than a year of cautious hiring, major US companies are beginning to expand their workforces, as executives are increasingly concluding that employees are needed to work alongside AI rather than be replaced by it. Companies including Alphabet, CSX, Booz Allen Hamilton, ServiceNow, and Snap-on have told investors they plan to hire in key growth areas, reversing a trend in which employers delayed recruitment amid economic uncertainty and expectations that AI would automate more work. Many are seeking workers with AI-related skills, particularly in engineering, sales, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and national security. The shift also reflects growing recognition that AI has limitations and works best when paired with human expertise. HR platform Lattice said many companies that had paused entry-level hiring are now recruiting again, viewing younger workers as essential for developing AI-native capabilities. While executives remain cautious about AI's long-term impact on employment, staffing firm Robert Half said hiring demand is improving, suggesting fears of widespread AI-driven job losses may have been overstated. |
